You may want to check the website of some of the local hospitals. Not sure if all of them will give a salary range, but I know that MD Anderson gives a salary range on their positions. Also, you can check out the Harris County Hospital District; this is a county hospital and I have heard that they pay some pretty decesent money. Also remember, you have nurses that are employeed in all types of companies, not just the hospital ( local jailhouse nurses, school nurse, homehealth agencies, state jail nurse) it just really depends on what type of business you want to “Nurse” in. Also you can check out Salary.com, or Wage.com, in put the city, zip code and it will give you a round about figure of what you can possibly make in the area. Good Luck !!!!

Bonuses, will depend on the nursing situation in Houston in 2011. But the nursing shortage is projected to get worse, not better.

Currently, in Texas, RNs make an average of $ 60,000 per year in Houston. Given the current rates of salary increases in nurses, a very conservative estimate would be that a new RN would make at least $ 63,000 and probably $ 65,000 per year in 2011. There are over 75 RN positions open at one of the Memorial Hermann Hospital Branches today based on their current job listings. Given that, there may well be sign on bonuses for some of the hospitals in Houston in 2011.

The 4 largest cities in Texas are some of the fastest growing cities in the US, I don’t see you having any problems in the Houston job market in the near future.
