Question by peanut butter jelly: What Types of jobs are avaiable involving computers?
I have always wanted a job working with computers… That much I have figured out. What I don’t have figured out is specifically what job. I originally wanted to be a software developer but you have to be a special type of person for that so I then thought computer forensics or a network administrator. Those 2 are alright options, but I want a job that involves making or being apart of a product. Working at Microsoft would be my dream. Is there anything out there that involves making a product or even marketing a product using a computer.
Thanks for any help!

What is the “specific type” that a software developer is? In the last 15 years I’ve worked with hundreds and hundreds and there have been no two alike. About the only common characteristic is the good ones are quite smart.
Honestly if you don’t know exactly what you want to do as a job, look at what programs are offered at the nearby colleges. Most people going into college don’t know the job title they want when they leave and even though there’s so many different careers out there, you are going to be getting about one of only about 3 degrees (although there are some minor variations/specialties within each). Computer Science, IT, or Computer Engineering. Take a look at what each does and figure out from there which program tickles your interest the most and take the leap.
Try to find a program where you can take one or more internship positions to help you figure out exactly what you want to do upon graduation, but if you at least pick your major, take some courses and then figure out your specialty (or some don’t even specialize until later in life through life experience), you can’t go too far wrong.
