Question by tasha: What are the good & bad areas/neighborhoods in Miami.?
I also would like to know why. I just want to get different people input. Me and my wife and family thinking about relocating for a new experience.

Just like any person, I want some to ellaborate on the job market, crimes(streets to avoid), good churches in what area or what you recommended. I also like to know about the public school system. I understand some of these issues may not be of interest in your life. For exp. If someone doesn’t hasn’t children or they out of the house. You probably don’t know about the school system

  1. JD says:

This is a broad question and it also depends on other factors, not only on schools. Good churches and schools can be found anywhere, even in bad areas. But generally the rule of the thumb is that the higher priced real estate has better schools since the people who live in the area are generally wealthier and the wealth has been said to be somewhat tied to the children’s success. The only other exception to the school rule is if the school is either a charter school or a private school.

And since it’s a broad question, some areas may be more suitable to be in the “questionable” range while those in the “questionable” range may be better or worse suited for your family. Please contact a realtor to have more assistance.

Good areas for families (in varying real estate prices):
Kendall, Doral, Westchester, West Kendall, Homestead, Coral Gables, Miami Shores, Key Biscayne, Coconut Grove, Aventura, Miami Lakes, Hialeah, Hialeah Gardens, Miami Springs, Virginia Gardens, Normandy Isles, Miami Beach, El Portal, The Roads, Sunny Isles

Questionable areas (also depends on how close you are to Biscayne – the closer, or the farther east you are, the better): Fontainebleu, Sweetwater, Design District, Edgewater, North Miami Beach, North Miami, Brickell, Little Havana, Miami River,

Bad areas: Overtown, Liberty City, Opa-Locka, Miami Gardens, Brownsville, Little Haiti, Downtown, Allapatah, Medical Center
