In the Navy you can do everything except go on a submarine or be a SEAL.

Just a few examples off the top of my head:

Enlisted:
ET: Electronics Technician
IT: Information Technician
CS: Culinary Specialist
DC: Damage Controlman
MS: Media specialist (Journalist/Photographer/etc)
OS: Operations Specialist

Commissioned Officers:
Intel Officer
Human Resources Officer
Admin Officer
Medical Officer
Supply Officer

Very few things are closed to women anymore. It is probably easier for you to figure out what you would like to do before talking to a recruiter. Their job is to fill the jobs they need, not find you the job you want if you don’t know what you want.

  1. uscg_recruiter says:

All rates are open to women in the Coast Guard. The Coast Guard is the ONLY military service that does not limit your options.

  2. SFC M says:

Most jobs in most branches are open to women. For example, in the Army there are 150 different jobs. Only about 25 of those are closed to women.

Talk to the recruiters in your area, they will square you away.
