Question by MarthaMaySalt: What are some good jobs in the forensic/medical fields?
By medical I mean something involved with anatomy/biology… Though not interested in nursing. What are some jobs in these fields and what is the likelyhood of getting a job?

My brother’s studying to become a physicians assistant. It sounds like a good deal to me. The pay is almost the same as a doctor but you only need 6 years of school. You also aren’t liable for malpractice suits (but the doctor can still fire you if you mess up).

He’s has lots of offers for a job and he just started medical school.

Forensics does not often overlap with the medical field. Yes, there are specific jobs that do overlap, but not that many.

And there are plenty of biology jobs that have NOTHING to do with either forensics or medicine.

If you are looking to work in the medical field, then the jobs are FREQUENTLY talked about in this section. Take some time to look through the past questions. RN, LPN, CNA, MA, PA, MD, DPM, DC, DMD, BSN, all the different techs, all the different therapists…

The main overlap with forensics is Forensic Medicine. If you are looking to be Dr Temperence Brennan/Dr. Kathy Reichs, then a Forensic Anthropology degree is more similar to the osteo lab work that they do on “Bones”. But you need to realize that this is a HIGHLY competitive field, especially since the success of “Bones”. No

If you are looking more CSI, then one of the top schools for Forensic studies is University of New Haven. http://www.newhaven.edu/5765/ Forensic Sciences will encompass everything related to a crime scene, except the actualy body, which will fall under the jurisdiction of the ME and potentially a consulting Forensic Anthropologist.

I don’t know about forensics, but I can give you some advices for a medical field. If you don’t want to be a doctor or a nurse, good jobs are physician assistant or medical technician. My sister’s friend is a medical technician and he told me that salary and work conditions are good. He got his job at this website for local hospital jobs, please check it out.
