No Experience Necessary
Question by Max: Relocating to Raleigh, NC?
My boyfriend and I are planning on moving to Raleigh around the beginning of next year for school. We have 6 months of rent, bills, etc. saved up for the big move. Even so, we will both still need to find jobs asap once we get there. Since we’re both still pretty young (I’m 21 and he’s 23) and in college we don’t have careers yet, and it seems pointless to try and line up entry-level jobs before we move since most employers are hesitant to hire out-of-state applicants as it is. So, my question is, how is the job market in Raleigh for college students? Would I be able to easily find a job as a server or something similar within a couple of months? I have a good amount of previous experience.
I’d also like to know more about living in Raleigh in general. I’ve done a lot of research, but it’s always best to hear from someone who lives or has lived there.

You could set up a mail box with a forwarding service from Mail Boxes ETC in Raleigh. (It is now a UPS company but I cannot remember the name.) You can use that location’s address for your Raleigh address until you get there.
Use that as your address for now and apply. The job market in Raleigh is not the best so the earlier you get started the better.
Also, since you are both going to be in school, contact your school’s career resources center. Often they get information about positions from companies who are will to work with students (no matter their experience level.)
Good luck with the move and the job search and school.
