Question by so_lovely: What jobs deal with animals besides veterinary work?
I know that in the future i want to have a job that is all about animals. I have been looking for what kind of jobs there are and i took multiple quizzes but maybe someone can help me. I would want a job that pays pretty good, a job so i can be around animals all the time, and i would want the job to not involve veterinary work because i can’t take cutting an animal open…i just cant. but yeah so maybe some one knows a job that has what im looking for. please help!

    Work in a zoo ^___^
    You can be with animal all the time and you don’t have to cut open the animal.

    But i guess, a vet isn’t always the one who do surgery on animals.

    If you want to work with animals it would be helpful to get as much experience related to the career you want to pursue as you can. Sometimes places tend to look more at your experience than your degree.
    You can gain experience by going to camps, volunteering, an internship, a job, etc.

    What are some other ways to gain animal experience?

    Some places to look for volunteer jobs or internships might be:
    • Veterinary offices
    • Animal training classes (does your dog need obedience training?)
    • Local Humane Society
    • Local Park Service
    • Wildlife rehabilitation centers (like for wolves, bears, big cats, birds of prey, and even bats)
    • Animal shelters
    • Farms (for domestic animals, or even ostrich, llama, or butterfly farms)
    • Pet breeders (those that breed specific kinds of dogs, cats, or horses)
    • Horse stables and boarding facilities
    • 4-H Clubs

    CATCH 22?
    1. To get a job working with animals, you need experience with animals. This bit of truth seems to create a frustrating circle. You need experience to get a job, but you can’t get experience unless you have a job, right? Well, yes and no.

    VOLUNTEER
    1. To begin a career caring for animals, you should…

    Depending on what you decide to do, some degrees to look into:
    * Zoology
    * Zoo Technology, Zookeeping Technology, Animal Technology
    * Animal/Zoo/Wildlife Management and/or Training
    * Animal Science, Zoo Science, Aquarium Science, Wildlife Sciences
