Question by longed24ever: Safeway, Walmart, or home depot?
I am a 19 year old female who recently lost her job due to a broken wrist and now have a cast on it. Pretty much the only experience I have is as a CNA but I will be unable to do this kind of work for a while. In the mean time I need to pay the bills…. I don’t really have any tool experience so I don’t know If I can get a job there. I worked at safeway as a courtesy clerk when I was 16…
Anyway which do you think would hire me with a cast on? I can still write and type…. I’d prefer to do cashier work but don’t really have any cash handling experience…. could I still get a job as a cashier? Also the job market sucks…. has anyone found a job at any of these stores in the Vancouver/Portland area recently?

Walmart is pretty open to who they hire. My sister was hired on there when she was 7 months pregnant.

srry bout ur arm anyway< i would work at walmart because they even hire mentally challenged ppl ive walked through a walmart door and they would say hello at least 10 times its crazy and i dont think a broken arm should be in the way of anything, but if you do get hired ther be very careful for ppl in a rush becaz they will run into you hard and your arm will probably hurt for a week

i would think your best bet would be walmart or safeway. home depot sells alot of big and fragile things that could be difficult handling with a cast. safeway and walmart are generally the same, but walmarts alot bigger so i’d think theyd be more in a position to hire. it still wouldnt hurt to apply at all 3 and call them the next day and ask if it would be possible to set up an interview.

I’m gonna say either Home Depot (I worked there for 4 years) or Safeway. There are some computer room jobs at Home Depot that don’t require any lifting, and Safeway is a great place to cashier. I would avoid Wal Mart. They do NOT treat employees well insofar as insurance ect. Just not a great company. Good Luck to you!
