Question by dky: Raleigh M50 -or- Trek 800 Sport?
I have a budget and resources to fix up only ONE of these two mountain bikes:
1. 2000 Raleigh M50 (aluminum US made)
2. 2001 Trek 800 Sport – Single Track Series (cro moly)

Which one is worth keeping?

Thanks for the help.

  1. bikeworks says:

Let’ set this straight before moving on. The Raleigh was ASSEMBLED in the U.S. using all foreign parts. Their only job was to paint the frame, assemble the bike, and put it in the box.

Considering both bikes, if I were to stay on the road only I would go for the Trek. If I were going to go on the road and smoother trails I’d go with the Raleigh. Keep in mind that neither bike is intended for rough trails or “mountain” use.
