Question by Sammy: Is it a good idea to leave private sector employment for a federal job?
Is taking up a fed job a good plan? I will have to move from NYC to DC for the job. Is it worth the move (in terms of international dating scene)? What about stuff to do, cultural events etc. versus NYC

The things you mentioned are very different in NYC than DC for sure. NYC is one of the most exciting places in the world and DC rolls up the carpets early. There are fun things to see and do in DC though, and many of the country’s best and brightest live there too. Look up their local scene sites for ideas. Adams Morgan is a fun area and so is Georgetown.
Fed jobs have great benefits and can lead to great careers down the road. The question there is how will this affect you professionally.
