  1. SAHMOnTheGo says:

I live in the Charleston, SC area.

I suggest that you just keep applying to more places. Calll or visit to the manager of the places you have already applied at and let them know that you are following up on your application. If the position has been filled, ask them if they will keep your application on file. Also ask if they have any suggestions for making your application better. Your dedication will make you stand out.

Network with anyone you know and ask them for references- your family, neighbors, teachers, etc.

Take a job- even if it is not your ideal job- so that you have one while you wait on the perfect job to come along. Anything is better than nothing.

Apply everywhere you go- restaurants, stores, etc…even your doctor’s office, dentist. Look neat, be polite and friendly and introduce yourself to the manager.

There are several new walk in clinics under construction in the area (Nason, Doctor’s Care, etc.). If you pass by them, look for contact information or call other branches and ask about hiring procedures for the new location.

You might do some volunteer work if you have some medical experience- it can get you networked with those in your field. There is a Hope Clinic in North Charleston, Fort Dorchester Baptist Church on Dorchester Road has a clinic, there is a similar clinic on Johns’s Island. You can also have something else to add to your resume in this manner.
