Question by rcmg0927: HOW CAN I GET FIRED FROM MY JOB IN NJ?
I want to leave my job so that I can stay home with my kids, my hubby works, but I want my job to fire me so I can collect unemployment after my six penalty period. I am afraid the if I just no call no show they will terminate me by mail and say I quit. What can I do, I don’t want to get fired in person.

Become completely disorganized and late. Thats all i can think of that would be legal.

If you want this you’re going to HAVE to get fired in person, unless you can convince a doctor that something is wrong enough with you that he/she will write you a medical leave of absence. Employers have to honor these for a time, but after that they can fire you if you can’t return to work. Personally, I think that if you want to draw unemployment against your employer, you should take your medicine and face getting fired in person. After all, your employer isn’t at fault here. You’re the one who wants out of the job, but, you also want unemployment you’re not entitled to.

if you get fired you probably won’t be eligible for unemployment it does not matter if it is through the mail, e-mail, in-person, or telepathy……..
as long as the employer can prove they had cause to fire you the state will determine you are NOT eligible. cause varies from one state to another but generally it is misconduct, absenteeism/tardiness, policy or procedure violations etcetera…

the only way to be eligible for unemployment is to lose a job through “NO FAULT OF YOUR OWN”
it makes no difference if you are fired or quit all that matters is WHY the job was lost and what the employee did or failed to do to cause the job loss.

(it is much harder to prove you had good cause to quit but it is very possible to do, good cause includes non-payment of wages, discrimination, SIGNIFICANT change in work conditions etcetera)

Why do you think you’re entitled to get a check for not doing anything? People like you are destroying America’s economy, values, and reputation. Work part time from 10-2 so you can pick your kids up from school. You’ll make more money doing that. Good luck with your American dream.

  5. Shane says:

Sorry Chick. No unemployment. Do a no show/no call (you are obviously a home attendant or something to that effect?) No unemployment. You want to stay home with your kids and get paid? Not on my tax dollar. Do what my friends did. Quit and have no income. Then go look for work in the fall if there are any left since the economy is just getting worse. And Donna that is disability insurance. Short term to be exact. She is asking for unemployment insurance. Wanna pay for it too so she can be with her kids? Wish someone did that for my friends.

  6. dude26 says:

You will be unable to collect unemployment if you get fired from your job. The only way is to get laid off. If you leave a job and it is your fault(fired) then you cannot collect unemployment. You really should look up the laws and make yourself aware
