Question by Samuel S: My girlfriend needs to find a public teaching job in San Diego?
My girlfriend got her MA in Education in Florida. Now she’s living in San Diego with me and we’re trying to find her a teaching job here. How can she go about it? Where can she look? Can she transfer the basic requirements test results she took for Florida? She passed them all except for the math. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Look up districts in the area. She will have to go to the website for EVERY district and fill out an application for EVERY district. Yes, that part really sucks. Additionally, she will have to contact the California Department of Education to get a temporary teaching license for the state. She will most likely have to retake all the tests. If she gets hired, the district might pay for it, or half of it. But sometimes to get a job, you need to take the test first. It depends if teachers need to be “highly qualified” in the district.
