Question by camrin95: is Brunswick Naval base in Maine scheduled to close and if so when? Is the civilian ship blg going to close?
How many jobs will be lost in the area? Will the economy survive there or do they expect things to be ok?

Are you talking about the NAVAL AIR STATION BRUNSWICK? Last I heard it’s SCHEDULED to be closed in 2011. There are over 4,600 people (military/civilian) at the NAS. NAS Brunswick is the state’s second largest employer. Do the math. Depending on what they do with the land and if there are plans on bringing in companies, it could be a while before the area recovers.
Naval Base Charleston closed several years ago, but Charleston bounced back. A private company bought the shipyard, and many other organizations/companies bought space on the rest of the base.
