No Experience Necessary
Question by jeepmere: Im moving to Albany new york in a couple of months and Im wondering how hard will it be to find a serving job?
I’m from Colorado and I have been serving tables here for 6 years so I’m not worried about not having the experience. My boyfriend got a dream job there but I need some income for myself. I’m just wondering how bad the job market is in NY… unfortunately I cant just transfer from the restaurant I currently work in now because there are no Mimi’s Cafes in NY.

I live south of Albany, and actually am surprised that I do not go there more often – we tend to always go south to NYC. Anyway, Albany is a large Northeast city, and the capital of NY state. Lots of business, lots of legislative types – they all gotta eat! You should have no trouble finding a waitstaff job – and more than likely, with your experience, will *move up* to nicer places, too. It shows that you are smart about this, because you are asking first – rather than just showing up and *then* trying to find something.
I hope that your boyfriend loves his new dream job – and that the 2 of you enjoy your new life in NY state. If you are missing Colorado, you know that you can easily get out into the Adirondacks and some really remote regions to hike, swim, camp – NY state is not at ALL like NY city. Welcome!
