Question by : I’m moving from Detroit to Las Vegas. Where is a good place to look for jobs & apartments?
As said, I’m moving from Detroit to Las Vegas. Where is a good place to look for jobs & apartments? I am 22 with no children and working in the medical billing industry. Any suggestions…on anything???
I appreciate a lot of your comments, not to be rude, but the question was not ; should I move to Las Vegas. My mind is made up and as for me staying in Detroit compared to Las Vegas- ANYTHING is better than Detroit.

I would start with Craigslist. You can find incredible deals because often times people are bypassing realtors and looking to sell or rent fast.

If you get no luck there, just call a local realtor in Vegas.

http://lvrj.com The local newspaper – Las Vegas Review Journal.

The best parts of town to live are Summerlin, The Lakes, Peccole Ranch, Rhodes Ranch, Southern Highlands, Green Valley and Henderson. With gas prices the way they are, I’d suggest you get a job first then find and apartment close to work.

    When are you moving?

I am 22 no children and heading there from Wisconsin! lol

Anyways, I suggest you check city-data.com and go to the las vegas forum. There is soooo much helpful advice there. I have found that asking a las vegas question in YA! compared to there is almost a joke. Not that people are not helpful here (THEY ARE!) but the forum there where you can ask questions are full of all people moving like us being answered by ppl who WERE in the same position or those that have living in Las Vegas for 30+ years! Very helpfuL! Good luck to you 😉

I really hope that I don’t offend people by my answer. But it really depends on how much you want to spend on rent. There are some good parts of Vegas, and then there are the not so good part of Vegas. The east side is an older part of Vegas, so its kinda run down. The new part of North Las Vegas is super nice and the housing is cheaper than if you wanted to live say in Summerlin. The Northwest part of the valley is pretty nice too. Craigslist is a great way to find a roommate, if that’s what you are looking for. As for a job, try the hospitals, Cenntenial Hills Hospital, Summerlin Hospital, UMC, Valley Hospital, Sunrise Hospital, Seven Hills Hospital, St Rose Siena Hospital, St Rose De Lima Hospital, Desert Springs Hospital. I think that’s all the hospitals we have here, I’m sure I missed one or 2. And don’t let Vegas eat you alive, I’ve seen lot of people get caught up in the Vegas life and they lose everything and end up having to go back home. GOOD LUCK!!!

If I were you, I would stay in Detroit. Jobs here are scarce (although people will have you believe they aren’t) with ridiculous competition, the traffic is a nightmare, and the rents on apartments are rising rapidly. A one bedroom in a decent/semi-decent area will run you minimum $ 700 per month.

I am a local as well and moving here with this economy really would not be smart. And if your expectations for pay are high, you will be sorely disappointed.
