Question by Alex: I am from socal moving to portland in the fall and want to know my chances of getting a job?
Specifically a job doing front desk and reception in a medical office type setting. Will employers hate on the fact that I am from San Diego and not a native oregonian

I don’t think employers will mind if you are not local as a front desk position will not require much local knowledge to perform the duties of the position. I would call an employment service to scout out the job market. Try AppleOne. www.appleone.com

Try looking online in the Portland area to see what the job scene looks like. You could even post your resume’, but not activate it until you get to Portland, so you’ll have it ready to go right away.

Look on Craigslist.org too. Portland is a great, friendly and mellow town in my opinion. I lived there for about 6 mos and found a job no problem. Good luck.
