Hello

Short answer:
You need biology (specifically: anatomy) to tell you what you will be seeing on the screen.

Longer answer:
When I lectured at Brown Medical over 20 years ago, I used to take the ultrasound students to the morgue before an autopsy and let them scan and review for an hour or so. I would then open the body, and they could see what they saw (or thought they saw) on the screen.
This simple idea was ground breaking and I hear they are still doing it today.

Cheers

The diagnostic medical sonographer (not referred to as ultrasound tech anymore 😉 would need to know how to perform the test by knowing anatomy and such as the other postee mentioned.

For general career info: http://www.bls.gov/oco and can search ‘diagnostic medical sonographers’ or such.

If or when searching for a school, please make sure that the program is accredited within the industry and please forgo those online, for-profit schools (course credits may Not transfer either) such as penn foster, ITT tech, everest, sanford brown, devry, university of phoenix and others: http://www.ripoffreport.com and can type into search.

    US colleges: http://www.utexas.edu/world/univ
