Question by ?dancing_queen?: How easy would it be for me to get a job in austin, texas?
i’m moving to austin and i’m going to be looking for a job in the clerical/administrative/office field. i’ve had 5 years of experience and i’m working on my bachelor’s degree. i also “look the part” if that makes sense (look professional, etc.)…how hard is it to get a job in austin in this field?
i’m also available 8-5, normal office business hours so that shouldn’t be a problem

Unfortunately this is not a great place to look for work. I know several people with MBAs and great experience who have been unemployed for a long time… even they can’t get secretarial jobs. It’s very common to see people with degrees working at the market because that’s all they can find right now. I would contact some employment agencies in advance and ask them to be very realistic about the odds of finding you work immediately, so that you don’t get out here and get stuck. Our job market is very limited for pretty much everything but medical and retail/restaurant, so if you could nail something down before you moved you would be in a much better position.
