My guess is that they are bringing on board those who have prior experience ahead of the new graduates. Keep looking…there should be a spot for any qualified nurse or CNA out there.

  1. Smith Scofield says:

    Clinical Care Associate
    Radiology Technologist Assistant
    OR ASSISTANT

etc. For more options you may see this link:

How about the place you did clinicals at? If they where willing to have students, perhaps they will hire you. Be willing to work part-time or on call to get your foot in the door.

In California once you become a CNA you can apply and study to become a home health aide. They usually take care of one patient in their home versus taking care of 30 people in a SNF like a CNA might have to do.

Of course employers still want experience. However, sometimes you can look on craigslist and find a family who is looking for someone to take care of their loved one. It is a much nicer job–less stress and I believe HHAs also earn more money.

I just did a paper on this. You can work in hospitals, Nursing Homes, Home health care agencies, Hospice, Assisted living facilities, and doctors offices. They are listed from on average highest pay to lowest pay. I hope this helps. I am a CNA in PA and been working for 5 years.
