  1. A F says:

There are a lot of jobs working with older people from being a home health aid, working in a program that helps ppl stay in their own homes by helping with basic homecare and getting a meal, being a CNA (certified nursng assistant) in a nursing home,. rehab center or home health aid, being a food service person in a personal care or nursing home, working as a rehabilitation aid or occupational therapy aid or physical therapy aid which all take some special training available at a tech school near you. You can call nursng homes for info on their hiring requirements and also call Legacy Link http://www.legacylink.org/ 770.538.2650 or 800.845.LINK whuch is the area agancy on aging for N GA.

Most nursing himes are always hiring and many provide CNA training at no cost. Look in the yellow pages for nursing and rehab centers near you and slso for personal care homes. Tech schools and learning centers offer training in being a home health aide or personal care aide.

It may be helpful to you to volunteer at a nursing home, acommunity center for seniors, or similar program to gain experience that will give you an edge in the job market and help you know what kind of work with older folks interests you most. Talk to the tech schools, learning centers and hospitals about training there too. Some of the learning centers offer free training and help getting a job.

You may find it helpful to go to http://www.thejobsite.org and look at jobs with the state of GA in socal service related, health care. look for aide and technician level jobs for now and also look and see the jobs that you may be able to get with more training if you like the field.
